Early C18th Villa in Cortona

Stunning historical villa whose origins date back to the Middle Ages, situated in a panoramic position at the foot of the famous church; S. Maria delle Grazie al Calcinaio in Cortona. This villa enjoys not only a wonderful position, immersed within extensive olive groves, but is only 500m from the centre of the ancient city of Cortona; a beautiful small medieval town whose origins date back to the Etruscan period where many important monuments, museums and churches should be visited. The house started life as a hostelry called “Locanda del Grifalco” and the ancient plaque depicting a “grifalco” is still visible on the façade. Travellers for many years would have stopped here to enjoy food and rest. Very recently restored the villa has been owned by the same family since 1915 and they have payed great attention to detail whilst decorating this fine villa and furnished it with numerous family heirlooms and antique furniture.
The house is comprised of two sitting rooms, a reading room, kitchen and dining room. The kitchen is equipped with hob, oven, dishwasher, microwave and coffee maker. There are three double bedrooms, one twin bedroom and three bathrooms, two of which are ensuite. One bathroom has a bath. The house also has a separate laundry room. Next door to the house is a separate self-contained annex with two double bedrooms, both with ensuite bathroom, kitchen and sitting/dining room with single sofabed.
