Il Poggiarello is situated near to Roccastrada, between Grosseto and Siena, in one of the most unspoilt parts of Tuscany: the Maremma. A region that constantly amazes with its colour, light, and varied landscape of sand, sea, mountains, dunes and swamps! The farmhouse dates back to the early C18th and is set within 120 hectares of farmland. Experience a holiday amongst some wild and unspoilt landscape in an area famed for its wine, gastronomy and history and immediately feel at home within Il Poggiarello’s wonderfully warm and welcoming atmosphere. It is the ideal location for visiting towns such as Siena, San Gimignano, the renaissance city of Pienza, the Etruscan sights at Roselle, the beautiful village of Montemassi (8kms) with its Etruscan and Roman remains, Massa Marittima (the “jewel of the Maremma”), Volterra and Populonia and the sulphurous hot springs at Saturnia and Petiolo. You are also ideally placed to travel along the old Etruscan routes, experience gastronomical adventures and the beautiful beach at Castiglione della Pescaia.

Take the opportunity to visit the estate wine cellar and sample the owners marvellous wine together with his olive oil. Both products are available for sale. Jeep tours around the estate are conducted by the owner and are well worth a ride! You will see 120hectares of wonderfully varied farmland including olive groves, vineyards, cyprus, eucalyptus and cork trees plus asparagus and much more. There is the estate restaurant which is open twice a week during high season and guests can taste the superb Il Poggiarello cuisine. Cooking courses are also run from the Il Poggiarello kitchen.

The property has been carefully renovated and is in keeping with the house’s original characteristics. The 10 spacious apartments sleeping between 2 to 6 people are all furnished with traditional Tuscan furniture, each one having a kitchenette, sitting/dining room, bathroom with shower and heating. There are lovely views from the apartments of the surrounding hills, the ancient cork tree woods and huge pines.
