C12th Abbotts Mill near Florence

Near the village of Sambuca and built along the river Pesa, stands Mulino dell Abate, a C12th mill, once belonging to the nearby Abbey of Passignano. It is the most important and ancient mill in the Chianti region. The property has recently been sympathetically restored, using original materials and in so doing, the owners have preserved its lovely medieval structure and appearance. Surrounded by the Chianti countryside, you can take a dip in the Pesa river, running alongside the mill, and relax in surroundings that once upon a time, encouraged travellers to do the very same thing.

Visit the mill museum where you will be welcomed with a glass of local red wine upon your arrival! Mulino dell Abate is the perfect location for daily excursions to many historical towns in Tuscany. The village of Sambuca with local shops is only 1km distance. There are seven apartments, all beautifully restored and furnished with lovely antique furniture. All apartments sleep two people, but Gora 1 & 2 share a main entrance so could be booked together for a party of four.

Each apartment is independent, with a kitchen, living room or living room/kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. There is a private verandah or garden equipped with tables and chairs. All kitchens are fully equipped (Gora has a washing machine) and each apartment has satellite TV and Hi-Fi.
