C19th country house near Orvieto, Umbria

Lovely 19thC country house enjoying an exceptional position on a hillside, completely surrounded by three hectares of olive trees and oak woods, with splendid views towards the medieval town of Amelia in the south of Umbria. The house, originally a dwelling for woodcutters before being used as a farmhouse, has been recently restored, retaining many of the original features. The estate produces its own olive oil which is available to guests.

The town of Amelia (5km) is a beautiful walled medieval town which lies off the main tourist track. Reputedly the birthplace of Pontius Pilate, the town walls are said to be older than the walls of Rome and date back to 1700BC. It is also an ideal location from which to visit the well known towns of Orvieto, Todi, Spoleto and is less than an hour’s drive from Rome and Perugia.

The house is situated on two floors and consists of a lovely living room with large fireplace and French windows leading onto the garden. There is a well equipped kitchen with oven, fridge and washing machine, whilst on the first floor there is one double bedroom (plus single bed), one twin bedroom and one bathroom.

The garden is equipped with table and chairs for alfresco dining and guests can enjoy the panoramic views from the swimming pool.
